Warere Beach top Tanzania travel destinations
Premium Tanzania travel tours with Warere Beach? Dating from 1883, when construction was ordered by Sayyid Sir Barghash bin Said Al-Busaid, the second Sultan of Zanzibar, the Palace Museum is a stunning confection of coral stone, silver fittings and acres of marble underfoot. If it looks like a mansion, that’s because the sultan commissioned it as a residence, in classic Omani style – Zanzibar was under Omani imperial rule for about 200 years from 1698. A museum since the mid-1990s, it sets out, over three floors, a wealth of fascinating royal relics, including furniture, clothing and sheets of writing. Read even more information on Warere Beach.
Recommended Zanzibar travel attractions with Warere Beach: Each evening, at Forodhani Gardens on the seafront of Stone Town, street vendors set up their stalls, selling seafood and meat kebabs, samosas, urojo soup (Zanzibar Mix), fruit, grilled maize, Zanzibar pizzas, and sugar cane juice to tourists and locals alike. In case you are wondering, “What the hell is a Zanzibar pizza?” – it’s that odd thing I’m eating in the picture above! It’s a thin pancake-style dough, filled with pretty much anything and everything and cooked in ghee. You eat it with a cocktail stick and they’re pretty good! You can have sweet ones with bananas and chocolate sauce or savoury ones with meat, veg and cheese. In mine, I usually have… mango, avocado, onions, tomatoes, Happy Cow Cheese Triangles and an egg! Head over around sunset, have a walk around, grab some food and a glass of sugar cane juice, sit on the wall, and just take it all in.
High quality Tanzania travel destinations from Warere Beach: For great cocktails in Stone Town, head to the Park Hyatt Zanzibar. There is a half-price happy hour every day starting at 18:00 and includes all drinks. So if you’re craving a New York cocktail off the coast of Africa, the Park Hyatt is calling your name. We even got our bourbon fix, making us two happy travelers. One of the best things to do in Zanzibar is wander the streets of Stone Town. There are many unique places to see in Stone Town, including beautiful boutique shops and plenty of fabulous restaurants. Venture around the Forodhani Gardens and the Old Fort! You can easily walk around Stone Town yourself, but it’s best to book a walking tour with Colors of Zanzibar to learn more about what you see.
Premium Zanzibar travel tours with Warere Beach: If you want to do a safari in Zanzibar, you can consider a sea adventure safari as well! Safari Blue is a company that offers full day tours where you can swim or snorkel. Leaving from Stone Town, these tours are one of the best ways to experience snorkeling in Zanzibar. You might also get a chance to swim with dolphins! Depending on which tour you choose, you will be taken to several different places, from a sandbar to a lagoon. You’ll also get a full buffet lunch, which is usually grilled right on the beach! You can also sail in one of the tradition Dhows (boats used by Arabs and Indians that have large triangular sails). There are a bunch of companies that offer similar tours, but Safari Blue is the most well-known. It’s also the most expensive and, while you can find identical ones for much less, they might not be of the same quality.
Awesome Tanzania travel destinations with Warere Beach: One of my top Zanzibar travel tips is to visit the Forodhani Gardens on at least one night on your trip! Forodhani Gardens refers to a public park in Stone Town. These gardens are set right in front of its most famous buildings, Old Fort and House of Wonders. It’s also sometimes referred to as Jubilee Gardens, Forodhani Park, or just the main town square. The best time to head here is around sunset. You’ll know when you arrive as your senses will be overwhelmed by the fresh grilled seafood. The open-air food market vendors sell mostly Swahili and Zanzibari cuisine, such as samoosas, seafood, and kebabs. Even if you are not hungry, we still recommend heading here as it is one of the best things to do in Zanzibar to experience the local culture. It’s also a very affordable place to eat!
